The Exposition of the Divine Principle (often abbreviated as EDP) is the official English translation and theological commentary on the Divine Principle, published in 1996 by the Unification Church (Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity).
- It is not a new scripture, but rather a clearer, more systematic presentation of the original Divine Principle (1957 Korean edition).
- The work expands upon and organizes Sun Myung Moon’s teachings, making them more accessible to both members and outsiders.
- It covers the same theological framework:
- God’s nature and purpose of creation
- The Fall of Man
- The mission of Jesus
- The providence of restoration throughout history
- The role of the returning Christ (interpreted as fulfilled in Moon)
Unlike the earlier Divine Principle, which was more cryptic in places, Exposition is written in a formal, doctrinal style, designed to serve as the standard theological text for Unificationists worldwide.
